This grinder, as well as other models available from Oregon, will not remove the hardness during the grinding process. When properly adjusted, the grinder quickly removes just enough material to produce a sharp tooth. If no major damage has occurred, a saw chain can be repeatedly sharpened until ground back to the wear marker.
Heat sufficient to damage the saw chain can result from attempting to remove significantly excessive material and/ or from a glazed grinding wheel. A wheel dresser is included with this grinder to refresh and reshape the grinding surface of the wheel should this occur.
