Is this one shovel or two and how does it shorten in the field?

This item includes one shovel. The picture of two shovels shows the original stock length and the extent to which the shaft can be shortened. To shorten the shovel your remove one wood crew retaining the D-Handle, saw off the wood shaft to your preferred length, and reinstall the handle.
