Kernmantle ropes are typically used in static line (SRS) climbing applications. They should not be used with Portable Winch capstan winches or for any other tree rigging application. Under no circumstances should rigging and climbing ropes be used interchangeably.
We advise using a high-quality polyester double braid rigging rope from Portable Winch, Pelican, Yale, Samson, or any other major arborist rope manufacturer. A suitable rated three-stand rope such as Samson Pro-Master is another option if the inherent twisting under load, typical of 3-stand ropes, is not an issue.
